Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs)

MCBs or miniature circuit breakers are a type of switch used to automatically turn off electrical circuits during abnormal conditions. They are reliable sensitive and resettable. Miniature circuit breakers are designed to protect electric circuits from overcurrent.

Mounted on DIN rail / omega rail and used in consumer units and distribution boards in a range of industrial, commercial, and domestic applications.

Seamless Process Automation offer a comprehensive selection of high-quality Miniature Circuit Breakers in Kenya from top brands including ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Eaton, Rockwell Automation and Lovato.

Types of MCBs

Curve B

Curve B circuit breakers are designed to trip if the current flowing through hits between three and five times the recommended maximum or ‘rated load’.

These are the most sensitive type of MCBs designed for domestic applications, low voltage commercial settings where any current surges are likely to be small.

Curve C

Curve C circuit breakers are used for more powerful electrical devices where any surges are likely to be higher – typically commercial and industrial environments.

They trip at currents between five and ten times their rated load. Typical application include smaller electric motors and fluorescent lighting.

Curve D

Curve D MCBs are the least sensitive types… activating when current surges to between ten and twenty times the recommended maximum.

Curve D MCBs are built for heavy-duty commercial and industrial devices where very strong current surges occasionally occur. Typical application includes welding equipment, large motors, X-ray machines and uninterruptible power supply units.
